Fairmount Park, Philadelphia
Upgrading the main entrance to the Nation's first zoo, the Zoological Society of Philadelphia, was just one of the many tasks that Menke & Menke has performed for this site.
Philadelphia Zoo Exterior Plaza Renovations
At the main gate of America's first zoo, new paving defined the plaza between the historic Furness & Evans gatehouses and new serpentine walls. The lioness sculpture was enclosed with custom curb fencing, while new trees and Zoo light standards provided the space with shade and light. ADA compliance was an integral part of the grading and layout plans. Maintaining visitor access to the entrance gates during winter construction was important.
